I miss my great sewing room in the Hilton Head townhome! I knew I would miss it, but now I'm feeling it even more with the new serger addition. Let's have another look, shall we? I put her in her new spot on the sewing table....
I love these machines!!!
I have a new favorite fabric store in town! Although it's a little bit far from my home, I'm sure I can squeeze in a few trips a month. As my friends can attest, I'm still really bummed about the closure of Sewing Arts Studio. It was, like, FIVE whole miles from home and I made it a regular treat to myself to stop there after weight watchers meetings! (Poor me.) There's not one very close anymore. But alas, I found The
Overall Quilter not too long ago, and it's a FABULOUS shop! Not only do they have a great fabric selection, their people are wonderful, too! I have been impressed from day one. They have a group sewing meet-up on Thursday nights (which, sadly I haven't been able to attend yet) and they carry lots of great patterns and did I mention, they have a great selection FABRIC??? Hooray!
I might add that I'm pleasantly surprised about the selection I found at Hobby Lobby recently. I've been on what seems to be an endless search for solid linen fabric. HL had some great quality stuff and in three different colors! Amazing. Of course, I had to go to the decorator fabrics to find it, but that's okay. Perhaps I've become a bit of a fabric snob, but I generally don't like going to HL or Hancock Fabrics for my fabric purchases anymore. I am rarely this pleased with my purchases there... Perhaps they're turning a new leaf to compete with the local shop owners. Of course, it's no secret though that I'd rather give my money to an individual shop owner than a big-box house any day!
Before it gets too late, I'd better get back to some sewing!
